The tournament was organised under the leadership of Hartlepool County Councillor Aaron Roy. The town of Hartlepool truly became a hub of sports, arts, and cultural events during the tournament.

Aaron Roy’s Remarks
Roy stated that the tournament was held with the aim of creating a platform that went beyond sport, bringing together different nations and cultures. “That goal was certainly achieved,” he said.

In addition to the competing teams, several other countries participated in the cultural programmes and stalls, which reflected the spirit of diversity. Roy added that more such events are expected in the future.

Promoting Kabaddi Across the UK
Joby Mathew and Johnny Thomas Vettickal, managers of the Wales team, said that their ultimate aim is to promote Kabaddi throughout the UK and eventually establish it as one of the country’s most popular sports.

The Wales team was coached by Raju George, a former England national player and owner of the Nottingham Royals Kabaddi Club.

Several distinguished guests attended the closing ceremony. Hartlepool Mayor Carol Thompson presented the awards to the winners.

Ashok Das, President of the World Kabaddi Association, was a prominent presence throughout the tournament. The matches were officiated by a panel that included former England player Saju Abraham.
