Australia Complete 5-0 Series Sweep Over West Indies with Three-Wicket Victory

Australia wrapped up a dominant tour of the West Indies with a 5-0 clean sweep in the T20I series, clinching a three-wicket win in the final match at Warner Park.

Batting first, the West Indies posted a competitive 170, thanks largely to Shimron Hetmyer’s quick-fire 52 off 31 balls. Australian pacer Ben Dwarshuis led the bowling attack with figures of 3 for 41.

The hosts had a glimmer of hope after reducing Australia to 25 for 3 early in the chase. However, a composed middle-order performance turned the tide in the visitors’ favour. Cameron Green struck 32 from 18 deliveries, Tim David hammered 30 off just 12 balls with four sixes, and Mitch Owen added a blistering 37 from 17 balls, which included three fours and three sixes.

Aaron Hardie’s steady 28 off 25 balls helped seal the chase, with Australia reaching the target with three overs to spare.

“I didn’t expect a 5-0 at the start,” said Australian captain Mitchell Marsh. “But we’ve played some outstanding cricket throughout the series. After the fourth game, we spoke about going for a clean sweep—something no Australian T20 side had done before. It’s been a team effort, with players stepping into new roles and delivering.”

This T20 series defeat further compounds a difficult period for West Indies cricket, following a 3-0 whitewash in the Test series. That tour saw one of the lowest moments in West Indies’ Test history when they were bowled out for just 27 in the third Test—marking the second-lowest total in Test cricket and the lowest since 1955.

In response, Cricket West Indies president Dr Kishore Shallow has called for an emergency meeting to review the overall tour and, in particular, the events of the final Test.
